The professorships of Circular Wood Construction (KHB) and Digital Design and Fabrication (DDF) are collaborating during the construction week of the 2026 summer semester to explore the principles of circular construction and challenge students to rethink material cycles in real-world constructions.

Students will work at the interface between craftsmanship and digital fabrication. In doing so, they will gain practical experience in timber construction and in the use of digital tools. The focus will be on manual assembly, the use of digital fabrication tools such as CNC milling machines or industrial robots, the collaborative solving of construction tasks, and the documentation of the process.

This seminar week offers the opportunity to make a visible contribution to sustainable construction with waste wood as part of the International Building Exhibition (IBA'27) and to actively participate in the 1:1 implementation of various building elements made of waste wood and clay for the flagship project “Domino Zirkular” of the IBA 2027 in Stuttgart.
